MTV confirm ‘Jersey Shore’ will return in 2018 with original cast
Jersey Shore to return in 2018
MTV has confirmed it’s bringing back one of its most popular reality shows, Jersey Shore.
The announcement was made by MTV during the premiere of Floribama Shore, which is basically the knock-off version of the Jersey kids set in Panama City Beach.
Jersey Shore, which reached nine million viewers weekly at its peak, was created by SallyAnn Salsano.
I got a phone call one day that said, “Hey, we want you to do a show on New Jersey-Italian guidos because you’re a giant guido.” From there, we worked on developing Jersey Shore”, executive producer Salsano said when asked about how the guido phenomenon started.
According to Jenni “JWoww” Farley, she and the cast had been begging Salsano for another go at it.
Jersey Shore family vacation
The show will be called ‘Jersey Shore Family Vacation’ and will be the first time the crew has been reunited on screen since series six ended in 2012.
Original cast members Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino are returning, along with Deena Nicole Cortese, according to reports.
Everyone was invited to come on the show, but Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola was the only one who refused.
US Weekly reports the reason was that she didn’t want to be around Ronnie.
Since filming ended, Snooki and JWoww got married and had children; Cortese wed her longtime boyfriend; and Delvecchio, who for several years had a DJ residency in Las Vegas, welcomed a daughter.
Sorrentino has had his ups and downs and spent time in rehab to battle substance abuse and faced legal troubles.
MTV has not announced an official release date, but the show is set to debut sometime in 2018.
